Jones makes a break for it...

Synopsis: While Defoe and his crew are taking on hordes of the undead at the ruins of St Paul's Cathedral, Fear-The-Lord Jones returns to The Three Pigeons tavern, looking for him. He's returned from a trip to Ipswich and tells the Innkeeper Sal that something happened in Ipswich. Sal goes out to get word of Defoe. When she does, the only other person in the bar, a hooded woman, shoots Jones with guns concealed in her cutlery. He recognises her has having followed him from Ipswich. She appears to be demonic...

One of Defoe's workmates...
|
Synopsis: Defoe and his crew continue to clean out St Paul's. We are introduced to more of his crew. There's Ezreel Tonge, a "Tomb Rat" who crawls through the tunnels and lives in a tomb himself. Tomazine Scarlet was a pirate and was pardoned when she joined Defoe's cause. She also fancies Mr Bodie, an ex Aether marine with a dark secret, seconded from the corps and who has an Aether weapon that renders the zombies unconscious for an hour.
Defoe and the crew start destroying the bodies while, elsewhere, the wounded Jones it still looking for Defoe. He decides he must speak to his brother "Damned" instead...

Synopsis: As Defoe continue to clean out the zombies, they come across Gonoph Bendigo - a "Gong farmer" who is using his job as cover to send boys into ruined houses and loot them. Bendigo was a bare knuckle boxer, and Defoe was a fan so is unwilling to have him arrested. However, he's worried that the two boys he's sent down into the ruins have been sent into a nest. The boys themselves are more worried about the mysterious Mr Quick...

Synopsis: Tosher and Snakes, Bendigo's boys enter what they think is Mr Quick's den. They take all they can carry, but decide against taking a crystal skull from an altar. As they head back up, the skull lights up. It sends out sparks, and before long, flaming zombies have caught up with them. The flaming zombies get topside, and Defoe's crew prepares to fight its way out.
Meanwhile, Jones arrives at Whitehall, looking for his brother, who's also known as Servitor...

Synopsis: Servitor, a man supposedly responsible for dealing with the king's enemies, is visited by his brother Jones. He tells Servitor that he found La Voisin - queen of the zombies - and she told him that one of Servitor's men was really Mene Tekel. He tells Servitor that he must tell Defoe.
Meanwhile, Defoe sends Tonge down to destroy the nest, while Bendigo is surrounded by flaming zombies...

The Bishop goes to work...

Synopsis: Bendigo is overwhelmed by the zombies and killed by Defoe as he turns. Tonge destroys the queen's nest and the crew go down to investigate what's left. They discover that the queen has laid her eggs in the body of a boy, so they cut them out and excorcise them. They burn the temple - and prepare to deliver the captured zombies, watching the flying Vizards around Nelsons Column as they go...

Mr Quick collects another victim...
|
Synopsis: Defoe and his men watch the Vizards at the top of Nelson's column before going their separate ways.
Defoe goes to the camp at London-beyond-the-walls and visits a boy called Terry. He tells him that they found his friend Billy's body and Terry believes that Mr Quick got him. He tells Defoe that Mr Quick is a "gentleman" wearing a plague mask who took Billy away - and they never saw him again. Terry tells him that another boy was also taken - Charon Gates - who Mr Quick asked him to lead the way to Baynard's Castle - even though the castle was a ruin. Defoe says that they once found a nest in Baynard's Castle too. Terry tells Defoe that Billy was being taken to Scotland Yard...
