Exclusive AHAB
Preview
Coming soon to
2000AD is AHAB from regular Richard Elson and relative newcomer to the comic Nigel
Kitching. It's Kitching's first major work for 2000AD following an impressive
start with Krypt in issue 1375. Elson already has a few series under his belt,
and this look like cementing him as a 2000AD favourite.

Here's a quick
lowdown on the series from Richard Elson:
"Both of
the pages above are from the prologue section, which is spread throughout parts
one and two of the series. The actual events of the story proper, take place twenty
years after this section.
Although Moby Dick is my favourite book of all time, Nigel hasn't actually read
it (or seen the Gregory Peck film). So the parallels between AHAB and the book
from which it gets it's lead characters' names* don't really go a lot deeper than
us ripping off the barest bones of the original story. Having said that, I'm re-reading
Moby Dick at the moment and, of course, am noticing plenty of those remarkable
coincidences that always seem to crop up whenever people undertake this sort of
thing.
* Ahab, Ishmael, Queequeg and Tashtego are the principle characters in AHAB, and
all originally appeared in the book, Moby Dick. Queequeg and Tashtego are two
of the principle harpooners in the original book. Ishmael is the narrator and
occupies a similar (everyperson) position in our story. But, I don't think that
either of us are in any doubt that AHAB himself is the character that this story
is really about."
Ahab is coming
soon to 2000AD (exact date TBC but keep watching the site).
