Dredd
Vs Death release and sales
After much palaver,
Dredd vs Death was finally released into the wild last Friday. This has,
arguably, been a long awaited event by many 2000AD fans and undoubtedly many rushed
out to get the game upon release.
However - according
to the latest sales figures, it doesn't look as if that was enough. Early chart-track
figures show that Dredd vs Death managed only to get into position number 37
in the all
formats chart, a slightly better number 9 in the Xbox
chart, and a rather embarrassing no show in either the PS2 or PC full
price charts. Whether or not there were extenuating circumstances remains to be
seen, but it's quite hard to put a brave face on this one. Unless figures pick
up next week, the game looks like being something of a flop.
It certainly seems
likely that Rebellion's trumpeting of "incorrect versions" sent out
to press might have been a severe PR miscalculation. After all - only the official
Xbox magazine gave it a particularly poor review - and it's that console which
seems to be doing the best in relative terms.
How this will effect
Rebellion remains to be seen - but we'll be keeping an eye on the charts. Check

Reviews
trickle out
Online reviews,
and indeed previews, of the game have, so far, been fairly scarce. Even the official
Dredd vs Death site still lists the game as "coming soon."
This is mainly
due to the fact that no US release is currently in the pipeline. However, there
are a smattering of reviews from UK sites. Here are our findings:
If we've missed
any, let us know and we'll update this page.
New
Forbidden Planet opens
We were lucky enough
to be invited to the opening night of the new Forbidden
Planet flagship megastore last week. And yes, it is indeed Geek Heaven.
So if you're after all manner of sci-fi merchandise, or want to peruse what must
be one of the best sci-fi book sections in London, take a look.
While it might
be merchandise and book heaven, it had something indefinable lacking in the comic
section. So if you really want to visit the best comic shop in London, you can't
go far wrong with Gosh Comics - a mere stone's throw away opposite the
British Museum (39 Great Russell Street) and strong contender for best comic shop
in the world.
Wagner Takes
on Batman
John Wagner fans
should stroll down to their local comic shop and pick up Legends of the Dark Knight
172 for the man's latest take on the Caped Crusader. Part 1 of 4, it's certainly
well worth picking up.
