Why? America 2 is one of the best Dredd stories I've ever read, and I don't see what all the negitivity is about. The art isn't that bad, in fact, I didn't really see a problem with it - Aside from it not being as utterly brilliant as the artwork on America. But the story... Just swept me away. ph34r.gif

I've been reading up on this, but haven't really commented so far, but I just wanted to say - It's a terrible thing to happen to you guys Bolt, as from what little I've seen of you guys, you're definatly some of the nicest guys I've ever met. And to have something like this come down on you is a shame, especially now it's been thrown straight into an even larger public domain.

Hang in there guys, and I hope this doesn't sour your attitudes towards small press work - As you produce some great stuff. smile.gif

The one thing the hardbacks have going for them though - They are the most beautifully designed TPB's that Rebellion are producing. It doesn't excuse the price of them, of course, but my copies of Shakara and Fiends (which I haven't forgetted about, Gavin! I'll get that review done soon!) are just beautiful.

As for what I'd like:

Eurocrash

Tsar Wars (Unless it's coming out this year)

A continuation of the early Slaine and ABC Warriors stories (especially with Nemesis coming out) and more Psi-Anderson and Strontium Dog to boot. I'm with Aaron on this one - Finish what you started, please! Pretty please! I'll beg if I have too!

Bah, I liked Clone Wars!

It was leagues ahead of the new movies, at least. ph34r.gif

The art for Cabs Inc, simple?! Obviously you've never seen Dom Reardon at work then, I take it? ph34r.gif

Bonzai Battalion is brilliant, and worth a million Starship Troopers knock-off's imo. It's one of those great, quirky mega-city one tales that's brimming with humour and never fails to please me, at least. Can't wait!

I don't think it's nesscary for them to be dark, twisted and macarbe. Honestly, I think if every single one of them were like that, I'd get pretty bored, pretty fast. I love Abnett's take on the format, as he doesn't take it very seriously, the headshot one being an especially cheesy nod and wink to how absurd some of these stories can be. Personally, I'd like to see more of them - And more twisted stories like Ruddler's too. smile.gif

And what can I say, Black Siddha is just so bonkers and off the wall I can't help but love it! biggrin.gif

2000AD trailers? Interesting idea. The trailer itself... well, it's alright but the images shown don't really hit at what the story is going to be about besides Dredd shooting some cowboys & mutants.

I'd rather it was just Dredd shooting a lot of cowboys and mutants than anything that could potentially spoil the story, mind.

Do you all have hearts of stone or something?! Dredd is the best it's been in the prog or meg all year, and I'll have... Harsh words with anybody who says otherwise! ph34r.gif

The rest could really go either way, but I have to say that I was suitably impressed by Dante and Stone Island, hopefully we'll actually get a sizeable chunk of Dante that gets him moving again - The poor guy deserves much better treatment than he's been getting of late!

It's a story called The Connection, which is the lead in to Origins and reminded me why I love Dredd so much. Thank God we still have Wagner! biggrin.gif

The rest of the prog was top notch too, not sure about Malone though. We'll see.

Been having a Tarantinofest recently, Watched Jackie Brown - Which was a pretty impressive movie, when all's said and done. And the first Kill Bill, which I felt kind of lost it's way after the scene with Buck, definatly something that need watching again to see if it's better the second time 'round.

I'd just like to apologise to Simon Spurrier - For everything bad I've *ever* said about Harry Kipling. Yes it got off to a slow start, yes I don't think the short sharp stories have been doing it any favours... But I have to say, best thing in this prog! By a mile! ph34r.gif

Although, I'm going to counter that by saying the end of Neo-Weirdies was probably the least satisfying. Ho-hum.

Hm, I feel the opposite way about Kipling. At least in Savage you feel oike something important has actually happened, and although there's a year wait between stories, something significant is happening. I'm not getting that with Kipling, and now the initial 'wow! A zombie, killing GODS?! With a talking VEHICLE?!' shock has worn off... I just feel it needs more space to develop, so I can start caring about Kipling and his companions aside from oogling the art and zany ideas week in week out.

Rest of the prog I can't complain about, though, Neo-Weirdies has grown on me and become quite enjoyable, and the rest of the prog is the best it's been in ages!

Strongest the prog has been in ages for me! Both Al's tales deliver the goods, and then some! Go-Machine is an impressive start, I really hope it carries on in this vein and shines like it ought too! Not much I can say on the Future Shock that hasn't been said above, very clever though might take a re-read to get my head around the twist. Excellent art on both, as well.

Red Seas goes up another few gears, a well deserving double-length episode. Spurrier's Dredd has me a little too confuddled, and is perhaps too wordy for it's own good, but there are some solid ideas on display and I look forward to seeing his ever more creative ways of killing people. Although, can somebody clarify exactly what carvings they were talking about on Kowell? ph34r.gif

I have to agree with Smithy - I loved Rose in the first series, but this series she just seemed to come across as a stupid little girl trying to play Doctor.

I think you have to take Maddox with a pinch of salt. Whatever you have to say about his musings, most of his drawings are just fragging hilarious.

On the contry, I think Capelthwaite is one of the weakest characters Si has written thus far. I felt nothing for him. Couldn't care less about his family, who didn't really do anything (for me, at least) to humanise him or make me sympathetic towards him... In my opinion, he didn't really stand out from anybody else in the story.

Better that he's writing something he actually wants to write than having to bow to the pressure of somebody else, surely? Can only mean he's willing to put more effort into it, and take more care over it - Which can only be a good thing.
